Kenya's Former Head of State Mwai Kibaki Lands New Job at 84

KENYA: Former Head of State Mwai Kibaki has a new job at the age of 84, He has been appointed United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) special envoy for water in Africa.

Kibaki received a certificate of appointment on Wednesday June 22 from the Cabinet Secretary Water and Irrigation, Eugene Wamalwa at his Nyari office.

The former president welcomed his appointment, affirming the necessity of clean water in Africa.

Kibaki was appointed on 10th April during an event at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, France that was witnessed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Even though he was not in attendance, CS Wamalwa received the certificate on his behalf.

While receiving the certificate, Kibaki stated that he was tasked to promote the course of water for peace and development in Africa. He added that he will work with different stakeholders to realize the reach of water through the continent.
