Heart-wrenching video of Tanzanian songbird Ray C After she allegedly tried to commit Suicide

TANZANIA: In the slightly less than a minute clip, Ray C whose real name is Rehema Chalamila, is seen being escorted in a police van while claiming that she was being kidnapped, and blubbering other unclear words.

Bongo5 said the singer on the night of Thursday, June 16, made quite a scene in the streets of Kinondoni Manyanya in Dar Es Salaam, as she shouted at the top of her head asking for a knife to stab herself, before the police came to her rescue.

Rumour mills also has it that she has relapsed back to her drug-abusing habits, and it is believed that the ‘Umenikataa Bila Sababu’ singer was high at the time of the incident.

A Tanzanian actor known as Esha Buheti who claims to have witnessed the whole saga, shared on Instagram an account of the events that evening. He said that he watched in disbelief as Ray C yelled saying she wanted to strip naked, that some people wanted to kidnap her, and asked for a knife to stab herself.

It is said passersby apparently tried to hold her, but she broke free and rolled on mud, until police took control of the situation but after a bit of struggle.

A few years ago (read 2012), the world watched in disbelief as the former singing star Ray C went on a downward spiral, admitting then to be addicted to drugs. It all started when photos of a shockingly drunken and emaciated Ray C went viral.

She had hit rock bottom prompting well wishers including the then Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete to come to her rescue. She was admitted to rehab.

The Bongo Flava star recovered and even put on a lot of weight which she went on to shed after what she said was as a result of change of diet and working out.

Media reports in Tanzania however claim Ray C has fallen back to drug abuse.
