Reason To Turn to Africa Foods. Your Health Watch!!
African foods are naturally nutritious and healthy. They are organically grown in most parts of the continent. Being rich in fibre, and with very little or no processed or refined ingredients means it is good for the bowel too. Eating too much of a nutritious food can lead to health problems leading to an early death.
Here are some of the advice tips we have for you;
1) You should eat regular meals at regular intervals or times.... This means your bowel will be less troubled, and have a routine when visiting that very office that we are all familiar with.
You should start off the day with a breakfast which is the most important meal of the day. Start the day full of energy with a heavy breakfast. This will enliven your mood too. You think better and work better it also means fewer accidents.
2) Turn to carbohydrates, The advice here is to throw refined sugar out as much as possible. Some advocate low carbohydrate diet. With starchy foods like whole wheat bread, cassava, yam, garri, plantain, you hardly can go wrong. All these foods are even good for those with diabetes. You need to know it that starchy food provides bulk, and slowly releases energy. It means you have fewer problems with constipation, and you can be sure of regular release of energy.
3) Use traditional Cooking Methods. Traditional ways of cooking involve steaming food in leaf wrappers that is the use of banana or corn husks, boiling, frying in oil, grilling beside a fire, roasting in a fire, or baking in ashes. Africans normally cook outdoors or in a building separate from the living quarters. African kitchens commonly have a stew pot sitting on three stones arranged around a fire. Cooking with olive oil, onions, and garlic is highly recommended and is more common in the countries of North Africa. Best spices to use may include cumin, caraway, clove, and cinnamon. Flat breads is a common staple and can accompany any meal, including breakfast, which is usually porridge to kick start your day with some energy.
4) Have a protein source, that may include cattle, sheep, chicken, and goat, though beef is normally reserved for holidays and special occasions in Africa. Fish is eaten in the coastal areas. Because of the Islamic influence, pork is localized to non-Muslim areas only. In these regions, “bush meat” is widely eaten, including bush rat, a large herbivorous rodent, antelope, and monkey. Giant snails are also eaten in various parts of West Africa. Don't know how the snail can end up on my plate but you can try it out and get back at us on how the meal was.
One more thing; instead of frying always, use the grill or even boil method to get your food ready for eating. Always have it in mind that the less oily food you eat the better. Always try to use cholesterol free vegetable oil each time that you have to fry your dish.
