Former President Mwai Kibaki is not Dead - Family Spokesman

KENYA: Former President Mwai Kibaki is still alive, his spokesman Ngari Gituku has said.

Gituku, on Monday, August 22, asked Kenyans to ignore rumours going around that Mwai Kibaki had died.

Family had on Sunday, August 21, announced that he had been flown to South Africa for specialised treatment.

Unconfirmed reports say that Mwai Kibaki was admitted to Netcare Sunninghill Hospital after suffering what is believed to be a stroke.

Reliable sources indicate his condition has since been stabilized and doctors are working to ensure he receives the best treatment.
