KENYA: Meet Sarah Ikumu Kenyan teen flying Kenyan flag high in the United Kingdom.
She is a 16 year-old British-born Kenyan teen, who on Saturday got a standing ovation and impressed judge Simon Cowell during the season premiere of Britain’s Got Talent .Her stellar performance earned her the first golden buzzer for her performance episode of the show, which means she will now go straight to the live shows. Ikumu, whose parents are Kenyan immigrants, performed a show stopping rendition of And I Am Telling You by Jennifer Hudson.
According to Daily Mail, The teen star has been encouraged every step of the way by her father Alex Gatoto, a pastor, and her mother who is a carer.
Unlike most teens her own age, she has a number of social media pages including an official Facebook page dedicated to her budding career.
There are also glossy and professional-looking music videos of her online performing Aretha Franklin's Think and Adele's When We Were Young.
With help of her parents she has previously taken part in Milton Keynes Young Musician of the Year and an under-18s 'Youngstars' showcase in London.
