Ways to Mitigate Deadly Floods In Africa.

To eliminate or end the occurrence of deadly floods in Africa we have to take some important measures to help end the effects that are witnessed after the waters get out of control.
Use of lightweight sectional metal barriers which maybe relatively inexpensive and can be placed in various configurations and removed completely when waters recede. These Frame barriers consist of rigid frames holding an impermeable membrane and use the weight of the floodwater itself to hold the barrier in place.

Planting more trees catches rainfall and helps take water from the soil although the Environment Agency says large areas must be reforested to make a real difference. Then there is putting up of sustainable drainage which is a concept often applied to towns and cities which are especially prone to flash flooding.

Next one is Dredging which basic aim is to remove silt (a sedimentary material made of fine sand, clay and small-sized particles of rock) from the river's bed, therefore increasing its capacity to carry water downstream. It can can be made using excavator, or vacuum pump, mounted on a barge or on the riverbank, to remove silt from the river.

All in all we should be able to; Planting of more trees, Building of levees, Stop building on floodplains, Building flood controlling Dams, Building Canals, Prevent of Soil Erosion and finally avoid building on high flood risk area or on waterways.
