Woman Found Alive 6 Days After Huruma Building Collapse

KENYA: A woman was found alive in the rubble of the collapsed Huruma building, six days after the tragedy that claimed 35.

The county government has pledged to settle all medical and funeral expenses of the victims.

Nairobi County Governor Dr. Evans Kidero said the pregnant woman was placed on oxygen support and was being stabilised.

"The team of doctors looking after her, led by Nairobi Health executive Bernard Muia will ensure she is rushed to hospital for further medical checks," added the Governor.

The woman was discovered on Thursday at around 11.50 am and according to National Disaster Management Unit Incident Commander Pius Maasai, she was weak but with no visible injuries.

Kenya Redcross officials said that the woman was trapped at a corner.

On Tuesday, a baby girl was rescued from the rubble, four days after the building collapsed.

The Seven-month-old baby was found sleeping in a basin wrapped in a blanket.
