Friends School Kaimosi Girls High School Female Staffers ordered to stop using makeup while in the institution's compound

KENYA: In a leaked letter undersigned by the principal, the school stated that it was finding it difficult to restrict students from using makeup as they defended their conduct with that of the teachers.

“We are finding it very difficult to correct some students in our school over the Use of Lipstick and makeup in School. They are pointing at us as the ones leading them into doing this.” the circular reads in part.

The administration also instructed teachers not to wear the cosmetics when out with students for various functions.

Nonetheless, the letter noted that the tutors were free to apply makeup while off duty.

The Principal's directive was condemned by KUPPET Secretary General Okello Misori who stated that the orders were ill-advised.

“I find this circular misguided. Can I get a good explanation. What is surely wrong with make ups such as lipstick? Are we turning our institutions to be religious shrines?” Mr Misori stated.
