Kenyatta University Killer Squad that is paid Ksh 25,000 to Kill
KENYA: Kenyatta University is so large that it is divided into two parts divided by a railway. At this railway is a small slum settlement known as KAM (Killing Men Available), where both KU students and outsiders (tagged villagers) reside.

According to TUKO, these gangs are hired by aggrieved parties to retaliate against each other of the administration of the school.
“People in this campus die for the simplest of reasons. It can be a bar beef, it can be love triangles or even academic frustrations,” said one student whos name could not be revealed.
The influence of the gang is so strong in the school that those who are not part of it find themselves linked to it after committing crimes.
One of the cases this reporter was told of was a girl who was killed in the Nyayo 1 girls’ hostels after she was found with another man.
Apparently, her boyfriend caught her red handed and so he poisoned her using packed lunch he’d brought her.
Another incident is where students are believed to have broken into a lecturer’s office and killed him during the day. He was found the following day by his staff still propped up on his chair.
The school could not tell why the lecturer was murdered but it was believed to be because of disagreements with students.
“Here, hiring someone to kill goes for about KSh25,000. If you come from a well-off family and have beef with someone, if you’re not going to have someone seriously attacked, you may end up having them killed,” said one of the student.
The general agreement was that the campus administration does not take student murders seriously because it is a common occurrence.
It is estimated the campus has about 8,000 students enrolled in the main campus this year.
The one murder that stands out and freshmen are told about during orientation is the murder of Cassandra.
Despite it being two years since her death, Cassandra was dumped in a flower bed along a street in the campus after being killed overnight.
The street was unofficially named after her.

One of them is inside the campus and the other is a 50 meter stretch of wall on the Were Were street just next to the slum.
It is here that death notices are placed after the administration has been notified that someone was killed.
The administration has a template for death notifications that any formatting done is to change the student’s name, identification number and location of burial.
That is the much the campus does.
“You will never hear of murder cases from KU in the media. The only time outsiders get to know about it is if police happen to be on patrol, are called in and they tell their media friends or the parents of the deceased speaks out. Otherwise, it is an everyday thing,” said a security guard in the campus.
