Mugabe Won't Stand For Re-election in 2018 if He is Unwell.
ZIMBABWE: Zimbabwe's long serving President Robert Mugabe will only run for re-election in 2018 if he's in good shape of health.

President Robert Mugabe has been in power for 36 years.

When asked if he will contest in the next presidential elections, Mugabe told reporters in Japan, "Only God knows what will happen in two years' time... If I am fit enough to contest, yes, but if I am not fit enough, I will not."

The situation is further complicated by the incumbent's refusal to publicly identify a favoured replacement, instead opting to hang on to power indefinitely, and keep his potential successors guessing.

The 92-year-old's health is a constant source of speculation in and outside Zimbabwe. Many believe his frequent trips abroad include health check stop-offs in Singapore.

Mugabe has found alot of support in the youth supporters of the ruling Zanu-PF party, who have vowed to stand by their ageing leader, claiming the 92 year old must rule until he dies.
