Ksh 1Billion Kakamega Bukhungu Stadium Collapses (Photos)
KENYA: A section of Kakamega Bukhungu Stadium that is under a Sh1 billion renovation exercise, collapsed on Saturday, November 5.
It is however not known what led to the collapse but the quality of work on the project had been questioned in the beginning of this year.
The said project was launched by Governor Wycliffe Oparanya in June 2015.
The tender was won by Wilkori building and civil engineering company, the same contractor tasked with the refurbishment of Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret.
The incident now risks interfering with the completion of the first phase which cost Sh399 million.
The project had stalled last year, less than a month after it’s launch, in what was said to be as a result of alleged financial constraints.
